Instruments and Magnitude Systems

Sorted by version, the most recent first. This actually follows data releases associated to papers, so we explicitly refer to papers in the following sections.

SDSS-II/SNLS3 Joint Analysis (JLA)

As in Betoule et al. (2014). Retrieved from the SDSS-II/SNLS3 Joint Light-curve Analysis data release page.

SNLS 3 year Analysis (SNLS3)

As in Guy et al. (2010).

Instruments

For the SNLS3 release, the format for instruments has not changed much. The new thing is that for Megacam, there are for each band, several filter transmission files, for various radial distances to the center of the focal plane. The description of Landolt filters has also been modified (but they are clearly not well defined).

File Instrument / Telescope Reference
snls3-megacam-model.tar.gz Megacam / CFHT as used in SNLS3 analysis, transmission varies with position in the focal plane, see Regnault et al. (2009) for details
snls3-landolt-model.tar.gz Approximate model for Landolt system (which is not well defined) As used in SNLS3 analysis, it corresponds to shifted Bessell filters. See Regnault et al. (2009) for a comprehensive discussion about this magnitude system. The exact shifts are from Conley et al. (2010).
snls3-keplercam.tar.gz Effective filters for Keplercam instrument As used in SNLS3 analysis, downloaded from CfA3 . See Hicken et al. (2009) and SNLS3 usage in Conley et al. (2010).
snls3-4shooter2.tar.gz Effective filters for 4Shooter instrument As used in SNLS3 analysis. See Hicken et al. (2009) and SNLS3 usage in Conley et al. (2010).
snls3-sdss-model-doi2010.tar.gz Effective filters for SDSS As used in SNLS3 analysis. From table 4 of Doi et al. (2010) (airmass of 1.3). See SNLS3 usage in Conley et al. (2010).
snls3-csp-swope.tar.gz Effective filters for the Swope telescope (CSP collaboration) As used in SNLS3 analysis. From CSP Filters web page, see Contreras et al. (2009). See SNLS3 usage in Conley et al. (2010).
snls3-hst-acswf.tar.gz Effective filters for ACSWF on HST As used in SNLS3 analysis. From synphot (Space Telescope Science Institute). See SNLS3 usage in Conley et al. (2010).
snls3-hst-nicmos2.tar.gz Effective filters for NICMOS2 on HST As used in SNLS3 analysis. From synphot (Space Telescope Science Institute). See SNLS3 usage in Conley et al. (2010).

Same filters as above, but resampled with a 5 A wavelength step

Magnitude systems

Magnitude systems are presented seperatly as the combination of data from different surveys requires the usage of different magnitude systems. Go here for more documentation about how they are handled in the code.

SNLS 1st year Analysis (SNLS1)

As used in Astier et al. (2006)

Base data archive

Contains default fitmodel.card and data that describe a Vega magnitude system.
